One of 6,000 Confederate soldiers buried here who died as Prisoners of War at Camp Douglas in Chicago. One section of Oak Woods is known as the "Confederate Mound".
He was serving with the 64th VA Mounted Infantry when captured and died due to conditions in which he was held.
