OBITUARY-Wm. F. Archer
William Freeman Archer, son of Ananias and Mariah Archer was born in Noble County, Ohio, August 16, 1865, and passed away at his home in Almena, Kansas, June 23, 1943, aged 77 years, 10 months, 7 days.
He came with his parents to Norton County, Kansas in 1879, which has since been his home except for a few years he lived in Nebraska.
He was united in marriage to Augusta Skiles on December 5, 1891.
To this union eight children were born, two of whom preceded him in death, one dying in infancy and one son, Guilda Archer who died in 1939.
Mr. Archer spent most of his life on the farm, and made farming his business, except for a few years he spent in the mercantile business in Densmore, Kansas.
He was converted and joined the Free Methodist Church, under the labors of his brother Cyrus Archer in 1902. He was always loyal to the church of his choice, and held a number of offices of responsibility in the same. He was a charter member of the Cactus Free Methodist Church.
Mr. Archer was a man of sterling character, honest and conscientious to know God's will to him was to do it.
He was a kind and devoted husband, a patient and loving father, and a loyal friend and neighbor.
He leaves to mourn his loss, the wife, Mrs. Augusta Archer, three sons and three daughters, Harvey Archer, Almena, Kansas, John L. Archer, St. Joseph Missouri, Leroy Archer, Almena, Kansas, Mrs. Rhoda David, Logan, Kansas, Mrs. Matilda Broom. Everton, Missouri, and Dora Archer of the home in Almena, Kansas. Ten grandchildren, two brothers, A. J. Archer, Edmond, Kansas, and Sherman Archer, Logan, Kansas. One sister. Mrs. John Snode, Almena, Kansas. Other relatives, and many friends.
Our loss is Heaven's gain.
