FORMER RESIDENT DIES

Edward H. Wiegman, 86, of Fort Dodge a former resident of Pocahontas and Rolfe, died Sunday morning in Mercy hospital following a year's illness. He had been admitted to the hospital as a medical patient Saturday morning.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Presbyterian church at Rolfe. The Rev. William Nelson officiated. Burial was in Clinton-Garfield cemetery.
Born April 21, 1873, at Lansing, Mich., Mr. Wiegman was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wiegman. He came to Iowa as a young boy with his parents and they made their home on a farm between Rolfe and Pocahontas.
He married February 20, 1901, to Miss Anna Seifert at Rolfe. Following their marriage they lived on a farm in North Dakota. In 1919 they returned to the Pocahontas area where Mr. Wiegman was employed as custodian of the county courthouse until 1935 when he and his wife moved to a farm in the Rolfe area. Mrs. Wiegman died June 25, 1942. Mr. Wiegman retired from active farming 1947 and shortly after he moved too Fort Dodge.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Marie) Lawrence, Fort Dodge; one brother, Fred Wiegman of Claude, Texas and four sisters, Mrs. Joe Hertz, Rolfe; Mrs. Annie Gilleland and Mrs. Dora Cornwell, both of Redwood Falls, Minn., and Mrs. Carrie B. Jones, Long Beach, Calif.
He was proceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Alma, John and George, and twin brothers dying in infancy.
