He was born March 18, 1927 in Morton, Ill. to John and Lucy (Heiniger) Steiner.
He married Erma Rocke on Aug. 1, 1948 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on July 16, 1996.
He later married Lucille Meyer on April 2, 1998 in Manito, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille, of Morton; one daughter, Melanie (Roger) Geyer of Peoria; one son, Jeff (Nancy) Steiner of Morton; one step-daughter, Fonda Robbins of Lincoln; one step-son, Kent (Barbara) Bowlby of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Deanna Adjodha of Peoria, Penny (Jay) Araujo of Washington, Jay (Christine) Geyer of Broomfield, Colo., Jennifer Steiner of Park Forest, Ill., and Rachel (Daniel) Cushman of Morton; five step-grandchildren, Cameron Robbins, Travis (Emily) Bowlby, Tera (Tom) Stopoulos, Reuben Bowlby, and Edward Bowlby; eight great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Steiner, three half-brothers and 6 half-sisters.
Ivan farmed in the Morton area all his life and was a school bus driver for over 20 years for the Morton School District 709. He attended the United Methodist Church in Manito.
A funeral service for Ivan will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.
