Son of John Wise Megginson, Sr. and Dorothy Susan Ramsey Megginson. John, who resided on Shaw Avenue, New Castle, Delaware, served as a Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class with Squadron 113, U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II. He was declared " killed In Action" during an attack on Alet Island in the South Pacific while serving as a gunner on a seaplane. He had served in the Navy Air Corps for one year and six months at the time of his death.
