Grace was born in Darke County Ohio. The youngest daughter of Samuel Puterbaugh and Elizabeth Miller Some time in the early 1900's Grace & her oldest sister, Angeline moved to Minot N.D for land grants. A brave thing for women to do in that time. She took a job as a cook for the RR and where she meet Alanson Jerome Parks. They were married April 4, 1907 where 4 of their children were born. Her husband was about 22 yrs older than she was and felt he was getting to old to work the farm any more. The story told by one of her granddaughters, Arlene Reckly Mason, was some time before 1920 Alanson sold the land granted farm out from under her and moved the family to Michigan where he was originally from. Grace was not happy about this but went along with it anyway. Although he was originally from the Clinton Twsp, Michigan area they moved to the Mason county, Michigan area where their 5th child was born in 1923 but she only live 3 days. As the years went on and with no SS at the time they ended up living with their oldest daughter Viola's family(Arlene's mother). Grace and Alanson maintained the family garden to help the family with food. Alanson Passed away in 1947. Grace lived to Nov 30, 1961. She passed away in Cadillac Michigan where her daughter was then living. Im not sure why they were buried in Flint Michigan but they are.
