Corporal Lester Dale Bonawitz, brother of Mrs. Clarence Peterson of 415 Cook Ave., Mrs. Myron Peterson of Calhoun Lane, and Albert E Bonawitz of 307 South Twenty-Seventh St., was killed in action in France July 22, 1944. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert L Bonawitz of Hardin, Montana.

Hardin Corporal Killed in France

Corporal Lester Dale Bonawitz, son of Albert L Bonawitz of Hardin, MT., was killed in action on July 22, 1944. While serving in France as a Tank Mechanic relatives here in Hardin, MT. said Saturday.

The soldier Corporal Lester Dale Bonawitz, 21 a veteran of the African, Tuscany, Sicilian Campaigns. Corporal Lester Dale Bonawitz also landed in Normandy on June 6 with invasion forces.

Corporal Lester Dale Bonawitz, attended Hardin High School were he was attentive in Future Farmers of America for several years before entering the Army three years ago.

He received his training at Fort Knox, Kentucky before going overseas nearly two years ago.

A memorial service for Corporal Lester Dale Bonawitz is planned for the near future.

Corporal Lester Dale Bonawitz's two brothers are also serving in the military, First Lieutenant Donald Bonawitz who's decorations for the Silver Star for gallantry in action was announced Friday is in Italy with a tank unit he was previously awarded the Purple Heart and a Silver Star. His Brother Earl Bonawitz is in communications in New Guinea and was wounded in action in Oct of 1943.

Two sisters, and another brother survive, they are Mrs. Clarence Peterson, Mrs. Myron Peterson, and Albert E Bonawitz.
