Message: John Thomas Clements, "Pete", 77, of Rocky Mount, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 1999. Born September 16, 1922, he was a son of the late Benjamin Lewis and Mae Anderson Clements. He was a veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Shively Clements. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Shively Clements, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Dr. John L. and Diana Clements of Staunton, David K. and Susan Clements of Rocky Mount; daughter, Betsy T. Clements of Clemson, South Carolina; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Charles Clements of Roanoke, Lewis Clements of Rocky Mount, William P. Clements of Wirtz. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 1999 at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William K. Dawson officiating. Interment will follow in High Street Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, December 24, from 1 until 3 p.m., Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge of arrangements.
