Samuel and Anna (Wickersham) Keister were parents of 14 children, including three sets of twins. These twins were born in 1845 around midnight on the family farm near Yocumtown, York County, Pennsylvania: Malinda was born Feb. 19 and Mahala was born Feb. 20. [From letters containing Keister research by George W. Eastburn of Winchester, Indiana, written to T. L. Engle; in possession of Susan D. Engle].

According to Texas Death Certificates, Mrs. John Britton died 25 July 1925. [From original creator of this memoria?]

Notes by Susan D. Engle about names on the monument: On the left are John and Mahala Britton with their son Franklin Britton and their unmarried daughter Hattie Britton. On the right, Anna Stroup was the daughter of John and Mahala; she married Lee Stroup. Howard Stroup, Jr., was most likely an infant who died very young. My conjecture is that he was Lee's grandson by his son Howard Stroup (1903-1982). Anna was Lee's second wife; they had no children together.
