Funeral services for Robert Walter "Bob" Altus of Sheridan will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Father Terry O'Connell will officiate.

Private family interment will be held at Green Crest Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are through Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home.

Mr. Altus died at the Sheridan Care Center on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006. He was 90.

He was born in Leroy, Texas, on May 4, 1916. He married Adeline Deiterman in Tours, Texas, on Aug. 17, 1944.

He retired from a military career in 1964 as a senior master sergeant in the Air Force. After his discharge, he moved to Oregon, settling in Sheridan. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

He worked for several years as a custodian at Sheridan High School. He later worked as an electronics technician in the teaching division at Western Oregon University. He also worked for the Salem School District as an AV technician.

Mr. Altus is survived by his two sons, Mark of Sheridan and David of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Mary Britt of Beaver Creek and Cecily McPheeters of Hot Springs, Ark.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a third son, Robert.
