The son of James & Jane Ascroft Lawrenson, he immigrated from Wigan, Manchester, England in 1882 as a teenager and accounting apprentice. He firstly married Almetta Brookover on July 15, 1891 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. Secondly, he married the widow Della "Dolly" Adams O'Brien on July 3, 1930 until his death in 1962. Mr. Lawrenson owned Commercial and Residential Real Estate in Des Moines.
