On this 28th day of May A.D. 1901, personally appeared before me
L H Phillips C.S.C. in and for the county aforesaid
Elbert Marlow age 64 years, and a resident of Hickory
makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension
ratified March 2, 1901
He enlisted Co B 55th reg NC State Troops 16 May 1862
to serve in The Battle of The Wilderness in the State of Virginia
on the 5th day of May 1864
Was shot through the right arm, Ball went through the right shoulder, blade
and lodged in right side and ball is now in my side.
Was also shot through the left hand at the Battle of Gettysburg in the State
of Virginia in July 1863. This wound caused the loss of my left thumb.
