Addies' wedding announcement to Mr. Eugene Bonney, Syracuse Post Standard, page 12 Publication Date: Nov 24, 1952

Never Too Late.. LOCAL COUPLE, BOTH 79, WED IN CHURCH AFTER TOSSING ASIDE ELOPEMENT PLANS: "We would have run away and gotten married," declared Mr.s Eugene (Addie J. Spalsbury Flath Bonney) Bonney, 79, explaining that the grandchildren squelched that idea. So she and Mr. Bonney, also 79, exchanged vows in ceremonies at 1 p.m., yesterday in brown Memorial Church. For this widow and widower the nuptials were really a family proposition. Mrs. Daniel [Fern I. Edee] Shaw-Mrs. Bonney's granddaughter-sand the "Lord's Prayer" during the ceremony; grandsons Franklin Edee, Jr., and Earl Flath were ushers. Her daughter, Mrs. Franklin [Ethel I. Flath] Edee, of 258 Fitch St. stood by the bride as she and Mr. Bonney faced the Rev. Robert J. Thomas with 50 friends and relatives looking on. The bride called her marriage ceremony in formal; she was attired in a grey gown and wore a rose corsage. A dinner in Mrs. Edee's [Ethel I. Flath] home followed the wedding. There's no honeymoon trip planned. The couple has settled down in an apartment at 410 Seymour St. The bride commented last night that marriage is a matter of "give and take"-she urged those contemplating matrimony to keep this in mind. For person her age she advises no hesitation about taking the step. "Find a good companion, " she said. They both have large families by former marriages. Mr. Bonney, a retired cabinet maker, has two children, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bonney has two [living] children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Both are long-time Syracuse residents-Mrs. Bonny, 40 years; Mr. Bonney, 20 years. She is well known as a saleslady here, after having worked 30 years in downtown stores. She stays active with a Christmas card selling business and other activities.
