Annie V. (Meads) Oliver, 97, of Provincetown, died on Sunday, July 19, at Seashore Point in Provincetown. Mrs. Oliver was the wife of the late John P. Oliver.
One of 13 children born to the late Manuel and Mary (Taves) Meads. Both parents died when Annie was very young, so her older sisters, Maggie and Mamie, raised her and most of the younger children.
Annie worked throughout her childhood to help support the family, with her first job at the Cold Storage Fish Plant. She also laundered clothes for other families in town. For years, Annie worked as a chambermaid at Provincetown Inn and Holiday Inn, retiring at age 81.
Hobbies were also useful in that Annie knitted, crocheted and sewed clothes for her daughters and granddaughters - including some wedding dresses.
She made various trips always ending at her sister Betty's in Florida. She even traveled to her family homeland of Portugal, later in life in her 70's with grandson Stephen.
She actively served the community in 4-H Club, American Legion Aux., and life member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish, and Catholic Daughters of America.
Missing her in this life are her daughter, Louise Crawley of Provincetown, and her son-in-law Phil Roderick of Provincetown; her grandchildren, Anna Leister of Braintree, Phil Roderick of Provincetown, Stephen Roderick of Truro, Joanne Belmore of Yarmouth and Karen Silva of Provincetown; great-grandchildren Tyler, Sean and Sara Roderick, Annie and Michael Leister, Savannah, Cassidy and Jadzia Belmore and Christopher Silva. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
On heaven-side she joins her husband - the late John P. Oliver, daughter - the late Joanne Roderick and grandchildren - the late Mark V. Roderick and the late Randy D. Roderick and son-in-law - the late Warren R. Crawley Jr.
Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St., Provincetown, Thursday, July 23. If desired, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St., Provincetown, MA 02657, or to Provincetown Rescue, 25 Shank Painter Road, Provincetown, MA 02657.
