Julian J. Chisolm II, 69, of Beallsville, a well-known area newspaperman died yesterday at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda after suffering a heart attack earlier at home. He was the husband of Mrs. Isabel Finch Chisolm.
Mr. Chisolm had been a freelance writer and photographer, having written stories and published pictures for several newspapers and magazines. A specialist in Fire Department news, he was a valuable source of many news stories for the Frederick News and Post in recent years.
A veteran of the Navy in World War I, Mr. Chisolm was formerly an extension agent of the Department of Entomology at the University of Maryland.
He was also a well-known horticulturalist, and was a charter member of the Upper Montgomery Volunteer Fire Company at Poolesville.
Mr. Chisolm was born in Baltimore, a son of the late Dr. Francis M. and Lilian B. Baugher Chisolm. He leaves his wife and two daughters: Mrs. Frances C. Jeffcoat of Beallsville and Mrs. Edna Rohman of San Jose, Calif.; a son, T-Sgt. Julian J. Chisolm, III, of Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., and six grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
NOTE: Per his granddaughter, Debra Chisolm Ruehlman, Mr. Chisolm's gravestone is incorrect. His name was John Julian Chisolm. He was never called Julian, only John or Jack.
