PROMINENT CENTERVILLE FARMER MEETS DEATH IN CREEK
The death of Hon. G.W. Marsh, the well-known farmer living in the Centerville section, by accidental drowning Wednesday afternoon in the creek on his farm, was a shock to his wide circle of friends and acquaintances throughout Washington County.
The body of Mr. Marsh was discovered by his son, John Ira Marsh, who had set out to find his father after he had been gone from the house all afternoon, lying face downward in about four feet of water. Life was extinct and had been for about five hours as near as can be ascertained. Accidental drowning was the verdict returned by the coroner's jury, which finished its investigation shortly after midnight. According to the finding of the jury, Marsh had been suddenly stricken by a sinking spell and had fallen several feet from the bank into the shallow creek.
Mr. Marsh had contracted an acute case of grippe several months ago when living in Forest Grove, and had returned from seven weeks treatment in a Portland sanitarium.
G.W. Marsh was born in Washington County, on the famous Marsh property of his father, August 17, 1858. He married Miss Dora Lyon. There are four children, Mrs. J.H. Wilcox of Oswego; John I. Marsh living on the home farm; Mrs. William Jansen of Hillsboro and Helen Marsh, 6 years.
Mr. Marsh was for 30 years an active figure in the politics of Oregon, being elected in 1906 a member of the House of Representatives
