Pvt. Langworthy was inducted into the Army in January, 1943, and was sent to England about the middle of May, 1944, and to France early in July to serve in an infantry battalion. He was in action only a few days according to a letter written to his mother on July 13 in which he stated that he was writing while awaiting orders to go to the front.
Pvt. Langworthy was graduated from Alma high school and was a member of the Elwell Methodist church. Prior to his induction he was employed in the Willow Run bomber plant. His brother, Tech. Sgt. Glen C. Langworthy, is an engineer instructor in the army air forces at March Field, Calif. There is another brother, Lee and a sister, Ilah, both at home.
He was married March 11, 1944 at Durham, N.C., to Doris Smith, who is now living with her parents in Ypsilanti.
