LEROY ALLEN
Leroy Allen, son of Sanford Newton and May Allen, was born December 4, 1881 near LaGrange, Iowa and departed from this life March 3, 1956 at the Glendale Sanitarium, Glendale, California, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 1 day.
On December 4, 1902 he was united in marriage to Cora King. To this union three children were born, Lynn Allen of Chariton, Genevieve Allen of Los Angeles, Mrs. Juanita Brown of Promise City.
Mrs. Allen died March 20, 1955. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother.
Besides his three children and son-in-law Robert Brown, he leaves five grandchildren, Stanley and Shirley Brown of Promise City, Alan Brown of Camp Hanford, Washington, Robert Lee Brown and wife of Promise City, Iowa and Mrs. Pat Hawke and husband of Glendale, California. There are also surviving one brother, Harvey of Mendon, Illinois, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Grace Foulks of Ottawa, Kansas and other relatives.
Most of his life was spent in Lucas County and for many years the home was located in the vicinity of Russell.
During those years he made many friends in the community who will mourn his passing and who will sympathize deeply with the famiily in this time of sorrow.
Funeral services were held at the Woodman Funeral Home March 7th, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. A. E. Beals, assisted by Rev. Everett Rhodes. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
