MASON
Ustel Mason, son of Albert and Elizabeth Mason, was born in Wayne County, Iowa, September 23, 1902, and departed this life on Monday afternoon, January 7, 1974, at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 15 days.
His early life was spent on a farm in Lucas County and on February 10, 1926, he was united in marriage with Tena Schumann and together they made their home on a farm south of Russell. Two children came to bless this home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ariel Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Tena; daughter Maxine and son-in-law Bill Moore; a son Elwyn and daughter-in-law Betty Mason, all of Russell; two grandsons, Philip and Kenneth Mason of Russell; two sisters, Erma Johnson of Bella Vista, Ark. and Eleanor Gabbard of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Ray Mason of Russell; other relatives and many friends.
He was an active member of the Center Community Church.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wauneita McConnell at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 1974, at the Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
