The book titled, "They Made Their Own Laws" by Melanie Wiggins mentions on pages 45 and 46, that Sarah was born At Sea, while her parents, John and Jemima Simpton were immigrating to America. That would mean that they made this journey to America and landed in Galveston in 1836.

The 1850 Galveston County, Texas Census shows that John C. and Jemima (Tucker) Simpton's first three children, daughters, Caroline, Mary and Sarah were all born in England and their father, John C. Simpton was born At Sea, in about 1808 and mother, Jemima was born in 1807 in Stogursey Parish, Somerset Co., England.

Sarah's father, John died on Nov. 10, 1858 and her mother, Jemima died on July 8, 1893 in Galveston Co., Texas and are buried at the Trinity Episcopal Church cemetery in Galveston, Galveston County, Texas.

Sarah was married on December 2, 1851 in Galveston, Texas to William Townsend. William and Sarah's son, William Phillip Townsend (1857 -1917) is buried at the Sabine Pass Cemetery in Sabine Pass, Jefferson County, Texas.

Sarah was married a 2nd time to John Vondy. Sarah and four of her family members drowned during the October 1886 Hurricane in Sabine Pass, Texas. Sarah's body was later recovered in March 1887 and she was laid to rest in an unmarked grave at the Sabine Pass Cemetery.

Sarah's two surviving sons, John Vondy (1869-1908) and William Phillip Townsend (1857-1917) are buried at the Sabine Pass Cemetery in Sabine Pass, Jefferson County, Texas.
