"Kearney Daily Hub", June 6, 1940. Lewis A. Bissell, Long Resident of County, Is Dead. Lewis Alvin Bissell, 68, pioneer resident of the county died at his home, 2211 Avenue F., early today after a prolonged illness. Born in Tama county, Iowa, he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Edwin Bissell, to Nebraska at about 1879, settling in Gardner township. In later years he lived in Gibbon township until he moved to Kearney a year and a half ago. Surviving are his wife, a son, Alvin, who lives near Kearney; a daughter, Elizabeth, of the home; two brothers, Oscar of Ravenna and Frank of Orland, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Otis Ramage, of Endanto, Calif. Mrs. Bissell is the former Mary Vogt. The body was taken to the Crawford mortuary, where arrangements were not ready for announcement today.

Bissell, who died at his home, 2211 Avenue F., early Thursday, will be conducted by Father Francis Tschida at the St. James Catholic church Saturday at 9 a.m. Rosary will be said at 705 West 22nd at 8:30 o'clock tonight, and burial will be in the Burgess cemetery, Schneider township. The pallbearers: Will Vogt, George Vogt,Jr., Francis Johnson, Alfred Hendrickson, Elmer McKoen and Lloyd Fraizer.
