Henry (H.D.) married Nellie Hoover June 8, 1905.

OBITUARY:
Henry Diederick Brinkman, beloved husband of Nellie E. Brinkman, and father of Janette Kauffman, Lois Jessie Hodoway, Annabelle Guy, Stella Mae Butterworth, Mary Beth Tietze, sons Paul and David, and Robert deceased, died early the Sunday morning of January 22, as a result of injuries received in an automobile.
He leave 13 grandchildren, Deane, Don and Derry Kauffman, Paula Dee, Bonna Beth and Diedrick Brinkman, Stephen and Craig Hodoway, Barrie and Tod Butterworth, and Christiana,. Mary ann, and Lucinda Tietze.
Henry was born March 3, 1877, the fourth child and eldest son of Anna and Diedrick Brinkman, deceased, on their farm southwest of Rolfe.
Surviving him are seven sisters, Hattie Ives, Caroline Olerich, Dora Ives, Jessie Wellstead, Anna Vaughn, May Caffray, Idella Freeman and four brothers, John, Dr. William F., August and Glyde. Two children of the family in infancy.
After finishing rural school he attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette for a time. He taught school for two years in Roosevelt Township and then helped his father with his farming. He married Nellie Elizabeth Hoover on June 8, 1905, at Fort Dodge. They then came to live on their farm two miles south of Rolfe where they have made their home for 45 years.
Henry, fondly known to many as "H.D." has always been an inspiration to his family, relatives and other friends. He generously gave his help and counsel to those who came to him. He contributed his time and efforts and abilities whenever needed for the betterment of the community, being a member of the board of trustees of Garfield Township schools for 14 years, and a member of the Farm Bureau many years. He took part in the activities of the Masonic Lodge which attended the services in a body, and the Order of the Eastern Star. As a member of the First Methodist church at Rolfe, he was on the church board for 40 years, and was superintendent of the Sunday school at two different intervals.
He is known throughout Iowa as an outstandingly successful farmer and stockman. His community regarded him with admiration and affection. His enjoyment of living remains a challenge to us all.
