Emily (Woosley) Sams, 86, of Warner Robins, Ga, died there July 20, 2009. She was a native of Union City. Services will be Friday at 11 am in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins, with Bill Bagwell and Michael Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery there. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 pm today. The family requests memorials be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088; the Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Home, PO Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

She was born April 26, 1923, in Union City, daughter of the late Gerald M. Woosley and Mary (Jonakin) Woosley. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
A homemaker, she was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by her husband, James Hagood "Sammy" Sams Sr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Cynthia Sams and Jim Sams Jr. and Linda; three nieces, Cynthia Powel, Diane Wise and Julia Sams-Holleman; seven nephews, Lt. Gen. John B. Sams, William L. Sams, B.B. Sams Jr., Alan B. Sams, Bill Sams, Thomas Legare and William E. Legare; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bonum B. and Vee Sams.
