Emma Norris Bell Gable was the daughter of Elijah Hamilton Bell and Martha Miles. She apparently grew up in the area that eventually became Douglas County. She apparently met Confederate Soldier Thomas J. Gable during the war and married him. They lived for a time in Mississippi, but eventually settled permanetnly in Bill Arp, Douglas Co. GA. Emma was an accomplished quilter. After Thomas' death, Emma drew a Confederate pension from the state of GA.
