Woodford Perry George was born on 09 May 1833 in the Bush Settlement in Clark Co., Kentucky to H. Greenberry and Sarah "Sally" Pigg George. He is the grandson of Whitson George and the great grandson of Nicholas VI George who signed the Corn Compact on 15 Apr 1779 at Fort Boonesboro. Whitson George was just 14 years old when he signed the Corn Compact.
On April 11, 1853 Woodford Perry George married his first wife, Mary Eleanor Glenn in Buchanan County, Missouri. She died in Jun 1864 at 29 years of age leaving behind her husband and 5 sons.

Woodford married his 2nd wife Salinda Barnett on April 29, 1866. She passed on Feb. 09, 1868.

Woodford Perry George married his 3rd wife, Cordelia Rebecca Henry Aniser on 12 Apr 1868 in DeKalb Co., Mo. Woodford and Mary had 5 sons before she passed. Woodford and Cordelia had 3 children. 2 boys and a daughter that died as an infant and who is also buried in Moxley Cemetery.
