Bobby Grey Wright, 86, of Fredericksburg, Va., died on Sunday, August 2, 2009, at his residence. He was born on June 13, 1923, in Bedford County, a son of the late Elmo Wright and Jennie Smith Wright. Mr. Wright was a 1942 graduate of Bedford High School and played on their championship football teams, fondly remembered by those of that period. He was a United States Army World War II veteran and had retired from Quantico Marine Corps Base as a civil service worker. He was also a member of Regester Chapel United Methodist Church for over 50 years where he had served as treasurer. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Hazel Crismond Wright; his son, Douglas Wright and his wife, Denise, of Fairfax; his daughter, Mary Ann Dodge and her husband, Mark, of Manassas; two grandsons, Christopher and David Dodge, both of Manassas; three brothers, Albert, Charles and James Wright, all of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wise and William Wright; and six half brothers and sisters. A service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2009, at Regester Chapel United Methodist Church in Stafford with the Rev. Theodore Smith and the Rev. M.J. Kim officiating. Burial will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Quantico National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2009, at Covenant Funeral Service, 1310 Courthouse Road, Stafford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Regester Chapel United Methodist Church, 85 Bells Hill Road, Stafford, Va. 22554.
