He was born June 27, 1927 to the late Albert and Mattie Davis in Blakely, Ga.
He was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Davis, seven brothers and three sisters. Mr. Davis served in the United States Army in 1952 through 1954 and was discharged with honorable release of active duties to his country. He was employed as ship cutter for many years at a local shipyard. He really enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with friends. He joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church
when it was located on the east end of town and resided with his church for more than 60 years. He was an active member of the Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias.
His life and memories will always be cherished by his children: Ms. Patsy Davis, Ms. Tandra Davis, Mrs. Pamela (David) Holland, Mrs. Dianne (Ronnie) Marlin, Mr. Jeff Davis, Jr., Mr. Clint (Abbigail) Davis, Mr. Trance (Angie) Davis, Ms. Renee Jones and Ms. Cynthia Nelson, all of Panama City, Fla. and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Darryl Stanley, Pastor and the Rev. Parker, officiating. Interment will follow in the Redwood Cemetery. Public visitation will begin today from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Military Honors by Ft. Rucker Honor Guard.
