The death of Mrs. Peter H. Bailiff passed from this life at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Nichols occurred in Corning on Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock from a complication of troubles arising from the flu and old age, aged 78 years, 5 months and 18 days. Her maiden name was Tenie Elizabeth Amsbaugh and she was born in Des Moines county, Iowa, May 20, 1844, and her entire life had been spent in Iowa except about four years of her early married life when she resided in Illinois.

She was united in marriage to John Wesley Reed on January 15, 1863, and to this union was born twelve children, eight of who survive the mother and are Leroy L. Reed of Straton, Nebraska; Warren V. Reed of Orient, Iowa; Clarence M. Reed of Aspen, Colorado; Ezra E. Reed of Sundance, Wyoming; Charley L. Reed of Clarinda, Iowa; Hartford D. Reed of Lincoln, Nebraska; Mrs. S. A. White of Aspen, Colorado; and Mrs. A. P. Nichols of Corning, Iowa. About 26 years after the death of Mr. Reed, the subject of this notice was married to Peter H. Bailiff. Mr. Bailiff passed from this life March 24, 1914, at Mt. Etna.

There was a short funeral service from the residence of Mr. Nichols yesterday (Friday) conducted by Revs. L. W. Ross and F. L. Roper and the remains were taken to Mt. Etna where the funeral services were held at the Dunkard church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Harry K. Rogers. Interment in the Dunkard Cemetery.

Mrs. Bailiff was the second child of Dicy and Valentine Amsbaugh. Beside her children, mentioned above, she leaves three brothers and one sister. She was converted to Christ quite early in life. Once she became a member of the Church of God, later uniting with the Church of the Brethren in Mt. Etna. She was greatly loved by all. Mrs. Bailiff was a good woman. She lived a useful life and was ready to pass on to the great beyond. Her death came as a shock to her many friends as it was not known that she was in a serious condition, her last illness being of only a few days duration. Sympathy is extended to the sorrowing relatives. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Ralph and Glen Boswell, of Ong, Nebr., and Hartford Reed of Lincoln.
