AUSTIN - Rita Jane Smith, 75, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2007. She was a retired employee of P. Lorillard and Bacon's Shively, a former employee of Meijer, a member of VFW Post 1693 Ladies Auxiliary, and Incarnation Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Bernadine Smith; and her siblings, Callistus, Marcella, Jean, and Judy. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Edward Austin; her children, Edward L. (Carla), David H. (Marlene), Robert H. (Jewell) Austin, and Deborah J. Poole (Mark); 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bob, Bud (Marie), George Smith (Wilma), Edith Ems (Carl), and Mary Geswein (Shorty); and an enormous number of family and friends. Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2229 Lower Hunters Trace, with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. 9 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
