Vera Nelson Haddock, 91, passed away Friday, November 1, 2002 at her home with a daughter, Nancy Esquibel, by her side. She was born in Bloomington, April 20, 1911, the youngest child of Adam Heber and Elizabeth Ada Jarvis Nelson. She lived most of her life in Bloomington. Vera and her sweetheart, Paul John Haddock, married in the Salt Lake Temple August 16, 1933.
A caring and loving mother to four daughters, Joan, Anne, Paula and Nancy, Vera was also active in the LDS Church auxiliaries throughout her life. She and Paul served an LDS mission to Lac La Biche in the Calgary Canada Mission. She also worked in the Logan LDS Temple from 1979 to 1988. In addition, Vera was an accomplished knitter, a member of the DUP an a faithful fan of the Utah Jazz. To her surprise and delight she celebrated her 90th birthday, with family members, at the Delta Center watching the Jazz win.
Vera will be missed by Joan and O G Dykes of Laie, Hawaii, Anne Matthews of Liberty, Paula and James Eborn and Nancy and John Esquibel both of Pocatello; 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Bertram, Wiley, Royal and Henry; sisters, Maude Nelson, Amy Grimes, Lillie Bartschi, and sons-in-law, Don R Taylor and Wayne J Matthews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 7 at 11 a.m. in the Paris Stake Center. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary, 702 Clay St, Montpelier, Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday at the church in Paris from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.
