William (Bill) E. Adams was born April 10, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to Charles Sr. and Orvella Adams.

He graduated from Alamo Heights High School. In 1976, he joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the USS St. Paul. While aboard this ship, they arrived at Pearl Harbor during the filming of the movie "Tora, Tora, Tora."

His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Upon returning from the service, Bill worked for the commissary service for 32 years where he held numerous positions during his career. During this time he met his wife Beth and they were married June 13, 2003.

In July of 2003, Bill retired as store director of Randolph AFB Commissary. Bill's greatest joys were golfing, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing at the lake house. He especially loved their shih-tzu dogs, Molly Sue "Spooky", Misty Rae and Merlyn.

Mr. Adams, 62, of Lake Buchanan, Burnet, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 26 surrounded by loved ones in his home after a long-time fight with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; sons, Steve and Michael; daughter, Emily; step-son, Christopher; step-daughter, Jessica; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; sister, Jody and husband Don McCuiston; brother, Charles Adams Jr.; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Bill's life will be Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 9 a.m. at the Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at Holy Trinity Hall, 20523 Huebner Road, in San Antonio.
