A. Eilene Burger, 89, Blue Knob, went home to be with her personal Saviour Tuesday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late William and Estella (Marker) Gray. She married Alva Clyde Burger Jan. 20, 1949, in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death June 28, 1994, after 45 years of marriage. Surviving are a son, Rick and wife, Diana; two daughters: Judy Daugherty and husband, Eldon, and Donna Stombaugh and husband, Allan, all of Blue Knob; seven grandchildren: Craig Burger, Rebecca Moore, Shealyn Corle, Keith Daugherty, Jessica Stombaugh, Shanon Benson and Eric Stombaugh; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers: William and Charles Gray. Eilene attended Wesleyan Holiness Church, Summerhill. She was employed as a line supervisor at Sylvania during WWII. She enjoyed crocheting, bird-watching, traveling and spending time with her family and her good friend, Millie Daugherty. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Claysburg Church of God with Pastor Marcus Tanner officiating. Interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery with Pastor David Walter officiating the committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Claysburg Food Bank, c/o Delores Helsel, 371 Cottontown Road, Claysburg, PA 16625.
