Sheboygan Press: Chris Mayer was found dead in a cow barn at his home. His body was badly cut and battered. In a hearing a jury decided he had been trampled to death by a cow.

Manitowoc county Authorities today were debating the advisability of ordering an inquest in the death of Christ Meyer, 40, Kiel farmer, found dead in his barn Saturday night.
Expert medical testimony of Dr. E. L Miloslavich, Milwaukee pathlogist, who performed an autopsy at Kiel Monday, strongly favored the theory that Meyer suffered a fit and was trampled by cows. The fact that five ribs were broken and his face battered, bruised and scratched tended to confirm this opinion. In addition, Dr. Miloslavich announced that the wounds in the head were of the same dimensions as the cows hoofs.
Sheriff Herman Carstens was unable to decide whether or not to hold an inquest. Although they have no tangible clues upon which to base their belief, county authorities still are inclined to consider the possibility of murder.
