HIAWATHA - Mrs. Blanche I. Arnold, 72, Hiawatha, died here Friday in a hospital where she was readmitted Nov. 12, She had cancer.
She was born April 29, 1899 at Blue Rapids and lived at Hiawatha since 1931. She was graduated from Baker University at Baldwin and formerly taught in schools at Greenleaf and Sabetha. She later was a substitute teacher in Hiawatha and Brown County schools. She assisted in operating the Paige Arnold Clothing Store at Hiawatha many years.
Mrs. Arnold was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ and the Does of Elks Lodge No. 1741, both at Hiawatha. and was past worthy matron of Zenith Chapter No. 184, Order of Eastern Star, at Hiawatha.
She was married to Paige Arnold Dec. 25, 1924 at Greenleaf. He survives.
A sister, Mrs. Gladys Carnahan, Topeka, also survives.
Services will be Monday at Bethany United Church of Christ at Hiawatha with burial in Sabetha City Cemetery. Meek Mortuary at Hiawatha is in charge of arrangements.
