Mary W. Baucom, 78, died May 6, 2006 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Services were today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Phil Boyles officiating. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbus, MS.

Mrs. Baucom was born November 21, 1927, in Vulcan Village, England to the late John Charles and Mary Alice Hannon Rigby. She moved to the United States when she was 19 years old and spent most of her life in Lowndes County, Mississippi before moving to Tuscaloosa 10 years ago. She was a member of Woodlawn Cumberland Presbyterian Church and retired from Seminole Manufacturing Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles Baucom; son, Henry Charles Baucom, and sisters, Rose Flora and Sheila Vanblericon.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelia B. Atkins of Tuscaloosa, AL; sons, J.D. Baucom (Kathy) of Caledonia, MS, John Baucom (Teresa) of Benton, LA, Otis Baucom (Debra) of Columbus, MS, Floyd Baucom of Tuscaloosa, AL and Harry Baucom (Dorothy) of Tuscaloosa, AL; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and sister, Barbara Shaw of Columbus, MS.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
