Edgar Lee Jones

Edgar Lee Jones was born on Tuesday, February 2, 1915, in Bridgeville DE, to Horace Christopher and Wilhelmina "Wilma" Madeline (née Williamson) Jones. He was the third born of thirteen.

Edgar served in the US Navy during World War II, from September 1942 to October 1945, as a Seaman First Class. He was employed as an electrician with the Pennsylvania Central Railroad, retiring in 1975. After that, he worked for three years at Dodd Dental, in Newport DE, and Harvey & Knotts Bus Service, in New Castle DE. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Edgar enjoyed bowling and golf. He resided at 110 Cherry Lane, New Castle DE 19720.

Edgar died after a heroic battle with cancer, on Monday, September 24, 1990, at Veterans Administration Hospital, in Elsmere DE, at the age of 75.

Edgar is survived by his wife, Jane (née Williams) Jones; his son, Roger L Jones and his wife, Louise (née Talarowski); his daughter, Terryll J Hayslett and her husband, Jack; his grandchildren, Roger, Felicia, Jessica Jones, and Andrew Hayslett; his mother, Wilma (Williamson) Jones; and his many siblings.

A funeral service was celebrated at Hardesty Funeral Home, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville DE, on Saturday, September 29, 1990. Interment followed in Bridgeville Cemetery.
