Charles Berst, 61, a lifelong resident of the Cushing community, died Saturday in a St. Paul hospital following a long illness....
Mr. Berst was born February 4, 1900 in Cushing to Margaret and Frank Berst. He and Marie Petersen were married Jan. 18, 1928 in Grand Island. They spent most of their married life on a farm in the Cushing area and north of Palmer.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Joan Koth, Downey, California; three sons, Edward of Grand Island, Harold of Silver Creek and Delbert of Cushing; three sisters, Laura Scheibe, Wolbach, Lottie Hansen, Cushing and Margaret Berst, Indiana; a brother, Frank of Cushing, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters, one brother and two grandchildren.
