Nathan Neighbors was born in DeKalb on May 20, 1942, to Herk and Ollie Bell West Neighbors. He grew up in Fort Worth, and was a 1960 graduate of Como High School. He was employed several years by Johns-Manville Roofing Co. A longtime machinist for General Dynamics (now Lockheed), he also was an entrepreneur who owned his own fencing business.
Nathan was track star in high school; he loved hunting, riding and grooming horses, and was an automobile history buff. He was an ardent Dallas Cowboys fan. Nathan was instantly recognizable by his robust bass singing voice.
Survivors: Nathan Neighbors is cherished in memory by his father, Herk Neighbors; sons, Nathan Neighbors Jr. (Hilda), Craig Franklin and Michael Franklin; daughters, Pamela Neighbors-Amoo (Benjamin) and Lakeisha Dionne Neighbors; brothers, Herk Neighbors and Damon Neighbors; sisters, Dell Cannon (A.D.), Alice Montgomery (George), Ollie Faye Williams (George)and Ruby Neighbors; grandchildren, Jenerian Young, Jasmine Neighbors, Alanhi Franklin, Mario Boone and Marlon Boone; aunt, Johnnie Mae Jackson; and special friends, Delores Neighbors, Ysleta Franklin and LaJeania Young-Allums.
