PLEASE NOTE: This was previously listed as JAMES E McCLURE, born 5 June 1843 and died 30 Aug 1883. That old transcription was made many years ago, from a very worn stone and recent research has shown it to be in error. The birthdate has changed to 15 June and the year of death to 1905.

JAMES F. McCLURE was the son of Nancy Hammond Blair McClure Forbes and William Chidester McClure. He was a Veterinarian by trade.

It is possible (but not yet proven) that he married MARY S. CHEESEMAN. He seemed to be the only James F. McClure in the vicinity for her to marry, but as of yet there is no documentation to prove it. I will update this listing if new evidence comes to light.

He did, however, marry EMMA LORD in Oshkosh, WI in 1893. She died in 1897. He then married MRS. FLORENCE R. WOLVERTON WILSON from Kentucky, in Freeport, IL on 15 May 1900. There may have been other marriages.

Dr. McClure passed to his long home Wednesday of last week, after a lingering illness of more than two years duration with a complication of diseases and was laid to rest in the cemetery two miles west of Forreston. He was buried with all the honors of a soldier of the rebellion, having served his country in her hour of need. The G.A.R. post of this place attended in a body. Dr. McClure leaves besides a wife, his mother, who is 92 years, three brothers, and two sisters, to mourn his loss. Rev. R. W. Pittman preached the funeral sermon.
