Evelyn Lorraine Hagan, 91, of the Meth-Wick Community for six years, previously a long time Atkins resident, died after a long illness on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. Visitation Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Bill Harnish will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Acacia section. Friends may call at the Chapel after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Survivors are her sons, Dennis Hagan of Cedar Rapids and Bill Hagan and wife Julie of Auckland, New Zealand, her grandchildren: Anna Hagan and Tim Hagan of Auckland, New Zealand, sister-in-law Hazel McClintock of Shellsburg, nephew Don Hagan of DesMoines; niece Jane Petersen of Galesburg, Illinois and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Nora, Lill, Ella, Gladys, Mabel, LaVerne and brother Chester.

Evelyn was born January 12, 1918 on the family farm near Norway, IA., to Lars and Elsie (Ellingson) Risdale. She began her education at the nearby Conley School, Florence township. She graduated from Atkins High School in 1936. On August 22, 1941 she was united in marriage with Kenneth J. Hagan at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. They farmed for many years on the Hagan farm north of Atkins. Evelyn was the third Risdale sister to marry a Hagan. Previously Mabel married Chester, Kenneth's brother followed by LaVerne's marriage to Charles, Kenneth's cousin.

Evelyn enjoyed bird watching as well as her numerous beds of flowers.
