Harry M. Altimus was born on April 16th, 1864, at Blairsville, Penn., and died October 25th, 1934, at the Community Hospital in Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 9 days.
He was the son of John and Susan Altimus, one of a family of eight children. Those living are his mother, Susan Jane Altimus of Logan, Kansas; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Phegley of Logan; Mrs. Mary Trubey of Lebanon, Kansas; and Mrs.lilly Kunkle of Woodburn, Oregon.
He moved with his parents toKansas at the age of nine years, in the vicinity of Glen Elder. He grew to manhood and married Clara M. Welch on November 24th, 1887 at Beloit, Kansas, she preceding him in death November 19th, 1919.
To this union nine children were born, two boys and seven girls. Of these Roy E. and Ruth A. died in infancy, Mildred R., in 1918 and Hattie J. Dean in 1931. Those living are: Mrs. Hazel Johnson, Mrs. Alberta Brown and Mrs. Lola Grater, all of Beloit, Mrs. Lucille Craig of Kansas City, and one son, Curtis V. Altimus of Tracy, California. Besides these he leaves 14 grandchildren, other relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
In 1924 he was married to Julia Fisher and she preceded him in death in 1926.
He was then married to Alice Johnson in 1930, who survives him.
Mr. Altimus had been failing in health for the past two years and the last few weeks his condition became serious.
He was a kind and thoughtful father and a cheerful friend and his passing will be mourned by man
