US Senator. He served in the United States Army during World War I as a Captain and Assistant Military Attache of the American Embassy in London from 1917 to 1918. He was elected as a Senator from New Mexico to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Andrieus A. Jones, serving from 1927 until his death in a plane crash in 1935.
