Margaret Melber Perdue, 92, of Paducah died at 1 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2009, at her residence.

She was a lifetime member of St. Francis de Sales and St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

She was a member of McCracken County Homemakers for 43 years, serving as President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Project Leader, and was selected by the State Board as district director for nine counties in Western Kentucky. She was also chosen to represent Western Kentucky at the national convention held in Portland, Oregon. She had also worked for the U.S. Census Bureau.

Survivors include one son, Ernest J. "Jimmy" Perdue Jr. (wife, Virginia) of Paducah; one daughter, Gladys M. Evanson of Paducah; one grandson, Kevin Perdue, one granddaughter, Laurie Perdue, both of Paducah; one brother, Frank Melber Jr. (wife, Betty) of Paducah; one niece, Susan Knight, and one nephew, David Melber, both of Paducah.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 50 years, Ernest J. Perdue Sr.; her parents, Frank Melber Sr. and Nellie Coleman Melber; and a brother, Henry Melber.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Daniel Dillard officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday,from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
