E. B. FANKELL, who accompanied Mr. THAYER to town Monday, is over seventy years old and yet he accomplished a feat the other night that many a younger man would not attempt. He arrived in Oakley from the east at 10:47 P. M. and notwithstanding the inky darkness of the night immediately started up the track for S. S. FORNEY's, who lives about four miles northwest of Monument, which is nine miles west of here. The old gentleman took his time, kept out of the way of trains and reached his destination for breakfast.
His wife was Isabella Stubbs (born 09 Dec 1922 in Westmorland County, England). They married on 16 Oct 1845 in Boardman, Trumbull County, Ohio. Isabella died somewhere on the trail west, between 29 Jun 1870 and 1873. Her father was the Rev. Thomas A. Stubbs (from Kendal, England), the renowned M.E. minister in the Ohio Western Reserve and western Pennsylvania.
