Samuel Neil Holloway Sr., 78, of Crab Orchard, passed away Aug. 22, 2006. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 24 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Danny Smith officiating and special music by Claude Martin. Interment was in Haley's Grove Cemetery.
Coach Holloway was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Crab Orchard, the son of Samuel and Ida Lee (Cox) Holloway.
He taught and coached at several schools in Cumberland County and was the only coach to take a boys basketball team to the state tournament. He was a member of Crab Orchard Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Corda (Pruett) Holloway of Crab Orchard; sons Samuel Neil Holloway Jr. of Maryville and Ron Holloway of Pittsboro, NC; mother, Ida Lee (Cox) Holloway of Crab Orchard; sister, Aileen Sherrill of Crab Orchard; brothers, Don Holloway of Cookeville and Lynn Holloway of Chattanooga; and grandchildren, Samuel and Hannah Holloway.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Holloway....
