Death of Nancy J. Sparks

Nancy J. Sexton was born in Sullivan County, Ind., October 23, 1845. With her parents she came to Mercer County, Mo., in the year 1854 and where she has since continuously resided. In 1863 she was married to John Sparks, who has been dead only a few years. Sunday July 30th, Mrs. Sparks was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage from which she died that night, being 70 years, 9 months and 7 days of age.

She was the mother of eleven children, eight of who are living. They are: Wm. T. of South Missouri, Riley of Everest, Iowa, Mrs. Effie King of Decatur, Iowa, Mrs. Martha Mundell and Nora Foster of Princeton, Mo., Mrs. Malinda Thomas, Sherman and Frank Sparks of Cainsville. She also leaves three brothers and one sister to mourn her departure. John Sexton of Cana, Kansas, Andrew Sexton of Colorado, Isaac Sexton and Mrs. Delena Potarf of Cainsville, Mo.

When but a girl she received Jesus into her heart and life and united with the Pleasant Hill U. B. Church. Her life has been an exemplary one, foregoing many pleasures in order to sacrifice for and serve her children and to be helpful to all who needed help. The community will miss her and there is a vacancy in her home which none can ever fill.

The funeral services were preached by W. E. Kauffman at the home Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, August 1st in the presence of a large number of relatives and sympathizing neighbors. Interment was made in the Sparks family burying ground.
