Final rites for Lawrence Alton Adams of Weir were held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Weir on Sunday, February 27 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Officiating ministers were the Reverends Dewitt Cutts, Roy Hawkins and George Pitts.
Mr. Adams, 61, died at the Veterans' Hospital in Jackson on Friday. February 25. He was a native of Choctaw County, a retired plant supervisor, a World War II Veteran, and a charter member of the Troy Biggers Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ackerman.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Mahoney Adams of Weir: one daughter, Mrs. Linda Bell of Ackerman; four sons, Lawrence R. Adams of Jackson., Johnny L. Adams of Weir, Joe Alton Adams of Goodman and Michael S. Adams of New Orleans, Louisiana; one sister, Mrs. H.L.Thornhill of Memphis; and eleven grandchildren.
