After a full and blessed life, Larry Allen Burchfield lost his battle with cancer on December 27, 2008, at University Medical Center of Little Rock.

Larry was born August 16, 1946, to the late Oba Burchfield and Allean Johnson-Burchfield of Halley, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Burchfield of Little Rock.

He graduated Class of 1964 from Dermott High School, Dermott, Arkansas. He served in the National Guard for seven years and attained the rank SPEC IV. Larry had a long career in the insurance industry as an agent and broker. He later owned an independent agency named Maumelle Insurance Agency. After many years of suits and ties he changed careers and became an office manager and bookkeeper with Herman Reeves Dirt Works where he could wear his blue jeans and Henley shirts. He was the Secretary Treasurer and a board member of the Lake Norrell Volunteer Fire Department where he volunteered many hours of community service.

He leaves behind a devoted wife and friend, April Younger Burchfield; a close father-in-law, Jack Younger, a loving and caring son, Gregory Allen Burchfield and daughter-in-law, Shannon; three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Gabrielle and Madison Burchfield; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Kathy Burchfield of Mount Ida; Bob and Peggy Burchfield, of Little Rock; Jack and Debbie Burchfield, of Cabot; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Billy Clark, of Hammond, Louisiana, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Avilla. Minister will be Pastor Vance Crawford. The family will receive visitors in the fellowship hall of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church following burial.
