An early member of the First Church of Hartford & on the Founders Monument. An original proprietor, his homelot in 1639 was on what was eventually called Elm Street. He was a fence-viewer in 1639, constable in 1642. His inventory was taken Nov. 29, 1655 and totalled 380 pounds, 2 shillings, 6 pence. He was a soldier in the "bloody battle at Mystic Fort" during the Pequot Indian War in 1637 where he was severely wounded and rescued from the flames of the fort by his fellow soldiers.
He married Margaret. His widow married Stephen Hart & Joseph Nash. She died March 1, 1693/4

She died at Farmington between 18 February 1691/2 (date of will) and 1 March 1693/4 (probate of will). No children of this marriage.
