"Matilda Sturm was born in Shelby county, Ohio, February 27, 1834. She was married to Mathias A. Sturm, March 25, 1855 and this union was born eight children, three of whom preceded her in death. Five living children, Alonzo, of Greeley, Colo.; Martha of Rydal; Will of Clayton, Kansas; Arthur of Fairbury, Neb.; Carrie of Mount Clair, Neb. She had twenty-four grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren. Her husband passed away February 24, 1909.
"She and her husband moved to Kansas in 1884 and has made her home her since.
"She was a member of the United Brethren church about thirty-four years.
"Mrs. Sturm was 93 years, 2 months and 27 days of age."
